Do you enjoy being with young people?
Are you keen to help them develop?
Do you love books or get excited by working with numbers?

If the answer to these questions is YES and you have a few hours a week to spare then why not join our school’s project.

Our volunteers are in schools in BANES (Bath and North East Somerset Council), Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset working with pupils on a one to one basis helping them with reading, numeracy and other curriculum areas. Volunteers receive training and are supported by RSVP Organisers who find them local schools and answer any queries.

Why get involved?

Satisfaction at seeing pupils make progress is key. Volunteers also report finding it fun and refreshing.

“ The real reward is watching the children increase their speed, vocabulary and expression as the reading session goes along. It’s a great feeling.”

“ It’s one of the highlights of my week. Reading for me has been my greatest educator and is the reason for me being involved with RSVP.”

Our schools are appreciative too as in these words from a headteacher:

“ Sandra has made such a difference helping hundreds of struggling readers to find enjoyment and success in their reading.”
