RSVP has many volunteers in Bristol Primary schools helping pupils enjoy books and listening to them read. We thought our members would be interested in hearing about an initiative by ABLAZE which resulted in some amazingly imaginative poems.
“Ablaze ran a Bristol Primary School Poetry Competition last March asking pupils to compose a poem about reading. The publication of the final book: “A Celebration of Reading in Bristol’s Primary Schoolswas kindly sponsored by Intellect Books and the winners of each age category were announced at Ablaze’s Annual Celebration Event at The M Shed.
The entries to the competition were so impressive, that it was difficult to choose the winning poems to be included in the book. However, after several rounds of judging were completed, 71 successful poems were picked out.”
Below is the June publication of poems that have been generated from the imagination of the children:.
